A first time for everything, but now I feel kinda bad.
Well, I think I finally felt the baby move today! But...not without a little prodding...literally. I hadn't felt the baby move at all, and the ultrasound tech said that it was totally normal, and she was moving around a lot, but I may not feel it for a little while (the average time to feel fetal movement is 18 weeks along...I am at 21 weeks). Well, Thom and I had this bright idea for me to eat something sweet, and then lie down and poke around to see if I could feel any movement. I drank my hot chocolate for breakfast, and then laid down and waited. Nothing. So then I decided to feel around, and poke my belly a little and see if I felt anything. Sure enough, after I had mashed around, I felt a little "bump"beneath the surface. Which was probably the baby, trying to move away from my fingers mashing down on her. I was happy for a minute, but then I felt bad. I wouldn't like it if someone was mashing their big hands down on me while I was trying to sleep! Thom was sure that it was fine, and that she wasn't hurt at all by it since she's all cushioned. And, it's true that the ultrasound tech always presses all around to get her to move on the screen. But..I still felt bad. And I've resigned that I will be patient and just feel the movement when the time comes. No more making my baby try to escape my pokes in order to feel a little kick out of the deal!
