We finished up our Lamaze class this weekend with a 4 hour class on Friday night and then an all day class on Saturday. It included a tour of the hospital where I'll be delivering, and we got to see the actual room that I'll be staying in, where all the action will take place.
It was a really informative course and we both feel like we learned a LOT from it. I feel like I'm better prepared now for what to expect, and I'm going into it with my eyes wide open. I'm still very scared of the actual labor pains but I know that I can do it, and I know exactly what will happen, so I can get myself prepared mentally.
There were ten other couples in the class; everyone there was having their first baby. We were surprised that many of the couples were in their 30's. It made us feel like maybe we weren't so old after all! I think a lot of people in their 30's are more responsible and are really trying to be completely prepared and take the pregnancy more seriously than say, someone who is 21.
We have two more classes to take over the next month. One on Breastfeeding and one on Baby Care Basics. I think we will be just about as prepared as we can be when she decides to arrive. Only 9.5 more weeks until we get to meet our baby girl!
I'm more excited than ever.
